Dr. Pauline Hoffmann, associate professor in the Jandoli School of Communication, completed the 3rd infodemic manager training provided by World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Infodemic managers help to combat misinformation and disinformation in a number of areas but the current focus is disinformation surrounding the pandemic and other health-related issues.

The training included an overview of the COVID-19 infodemic, strategies and tools to gather and analyze data and navigate through the infodemic, exposing tactics employed in the infodemic, and sharing case studies and successes in combating mis- and disinformation. 

It culminated in group presentations around a real-world simulation bringing experts together from a number of fields and countries to manage an infodemic.
