Franciscan Leadership Training Program holds inaugural session

Oct 27, 2020 The Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University launched its new Franciscan Leadership Training Program for the friars and ministry leaders of the Atonement Franciscan community on Wednesday, Oct. 21. About 100 individuals participated in the training program.

Fr. David Couturier, OFM. Cap., director of the Institute, leads a team of Franciscan specialists and experts in leadership studies in this effort. As part of its Padua Program, the Franciscan Institute provides a 16-month online program of Franciscan leadership formation that orients ministry leaders to the foundational mission values of the early Franciscan movement led by St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi, and applies those principles to managerial challenges today.

The Padua Program at St. Bonaventure helps Franciscan institutions and ministries transmit the values of Saints Francis and Clare to new generations of leaders, inspiring them to infuse this mission into the daily operations of Franciscan schools, hospitals, retreat centers, and social service programs.

Individuals completing the program will increase expertise in the preservation and promotion of the Franciscan legacy.
