Dr. Rene' Hauser, director of the MSED in inclusive special education program, presented a webinar for the Assessment Network of New York on June 8 titled "Supporting Faculty in Building Standards-based Assessments."

It provided an overview for faculty on creating assessments of student learning that are based on a set of professional standards or objectives. Using a 10-step process, faculty can design relevant and authentic assessments of student learning that provide outcomes data to help drive instruction.

Additionally, Hauser and two program graduates, Nicole Marra and Sarah Koning, presented a webinar titled "Standards-based Electronic Portfolios," in which they presented a framework for creating electronic portfolios to demonstrate professional competencies.

Marra and Koning presented highlights from their portfolios that were built using several different web-based platforms.
