St. Bonaventure welcomes Lindsay Retchless as assistant director of Alumni Services

St. Bonaventure University has appointed Lindsay Retchless as assistant director of Alumni Services.

Lindsay RetchlessRetchless has an extensive background in alumni and donor engagement, communications, event management, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising.

“We are very happy to welcome Lindsay as assistant director of Alumni Services. She brings with her an impressive background in alumni relations. Coming from a Bonaventure family, and as a current Bona mom, she was the perfect choice for this newly-established position,” said Joe Flanagan, ’74, director of Alumni Services.

Flanagan said Retchless will be working with young alumni as well as developing a range of new initiatives that will connect alumni back to their alma mater. She will also be responsible for maintaining the alumni presence on the university website and managing various social media platforms and other communications.

“Bonnies are well known for being a prideful and a tight-knit community dedicated to supporting their alma mater. I’m excited to serve such a loyal and passionate alumni network, and to assist in the development of engagement opportunities and programming to keep our alumni connected to each other and to the university,” Retchless said.

Prior to joining St. Bonaventure, Retchless was director of Alumni Relations at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, where she developed a number of new and innovative engagement events and launched a Student Alumni Association.

Retchless holds a bachelor’s degree in business management with a minor in international management from Pitt-Bradford and a Master of Public Policy and Management degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Leadership McKean and Interfaith Caregivers.

She and her husband, Tim, SBU Class of 1994, live in Olean. Their son, Trent, is a sophomore education and third generation legacy student at St. Bonaventure. Trent’s grandfather, Mike Retchless, played baseball for the Bonnies and graduated in ’68.

St. Bonaventure alumna Jessie Briggs Joyce
Jessie Briggs Joyce needed four visits to St. Bonaventure University before deciding to attend. Today, it takes less than two seconds for the 2013 graduate to tell you she made the right choice. While at SBU, Briggs Joyce forged bonds with faculty and fellow students and found strengths she continues to draw on. In May 2019, she earned a doctoral degree in social psychology from Temple University and now is an assistant teaching professor of psychology at Syracuse University.

Bonaventure student Cassidey Kavathas

Journalism major Cassidey Kavathas didn't want to come to St. Bonaventure, but her mother encouraged her to attend Communications Day as a high school student and to take a campus tour. Well, her mom was right. St. Bonaventure was more welcoming than any campus she visited and she was made to feel part of the Bonaventure family before she was even enrolled.
