Club basketball is twice as nice this season at St. Bonaventure.
Both the men’s and women’s club teams at SBU have qualified for the National Club Basketball Association North Atlantic Regional Tournaments this weekend at Syracuse University.
Winners of the six regional tournaments, along with two at-large selections, will advance to the eight-team national championships April 10-12 in Erie, Pennsylvania.
The Bona women, seeded No. 2 in the four-team regional bracket, will play No. 3 SUNY-Cortland at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The winner will play at 4 p.m. vs. the winner of No. 1 Syracuse vs. No. 4 PennWest-Edinboro.
The women, captained by Jez Fayson and Madelyn Morris, finished 11-1 to win the North Atlantic West Conference, losing only to the University of Rochester.
The No. 3 St. Bonaventure men open with No. 6 Adelphi at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the eight-team regional. The winner will play at 2 p.m. vs. the winner of No. 2 Princeton vs. No. 7 Cortland. The title game is at noon Sunday. Syracuse is the top seed on the other side of the bracket.
The Bona men, led by captains Sam Roiger and Riley Pendleton, also finished 11-1 in league play to win the North Atlantic West Conference, losing only to Geneseo by a point.
