Bona women thump BC to capture first rugby road win of the year

Sep 21, 2025

The St. Bonaventure women’s rugby team picked up where it left off last season, traveling to Boston College and steamrolling the Eagles, 74-0, Sunday afternoon.

In 2024, their first year in Division I, the Bonnies outscored their regular-season opponents 415-0 before losing to eventual national champion Wheeling in the Allegheny Rugby Union title game.

Eleven players scored tries for the Bonnies: Lexi Thompson, Jillian Rea, Rory Senft, Madison Moeller, Kaegan Rhodes, Alexandria Sutandar, Gia Ditto (2), Kyla Nentarz, Taylor Cohen, Natalie Lamar, and Taryn Gonzales.

Lamar had five conversions and Elizabeth Lyons added two.

“This was our first 15s road trip for this group, so we were excited to see how they would handle the new experience,” said Meredith Pyke, Bonnies head coach. “We were able to move a lot of players around and get everyone significant minutes.”

The Bonnies (2-0), ranked No. 5 in the preseason National Collegiate Rugby Division I poll, host Cincinnati at 1 p.m. Saturday as part of SBU’s Family Weekend.

The Bonaventure men, who won at Queens University Saturday on the final play of the match, host Kutztown at 11 a.m.
