Rugby resolution for national title
Three state politicians made sure a national championship didn’t go unnoticed.

State Sen. George Borrello and Assemblymen Joe Giglio and Phil Palmesano, ’91, presented Coach Tui Osborne and several members of St. Bonaventure’s men’s rugby team with a joint Senate and Assembly resolution honoring them for their National Collegiate Rugby Championship.

The legislators were joined by Dr. Jeff Gingerich, university president, in honoring the team at a ceremony Thursday in the Reilly Center Athletics Hall of Fame.

The Bonnies defeated Penn State, 19-18, in the title game of the NCR Division I Tournament Dec. 11 in Houston.

“We’re extremely grateful for this recognition and appreciate everyone’s support in getting us here,” Osborne said.
