St. Bonaventure to continue broadcasts of Holy Week services

Apr 08, 2020

St. Bonaventure University will continue to broadcast Holy Week Masses from its University Chapel.

The services will feature only a presider and reader, with no congregation. Almost 1,300 people watched the university’s broadcast of Palm Sunday Mass on April 5.

The remaining schedule is:

  • Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper, 7 p.m., April 9.
  • Good Friday Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion, 3 p.m., April 10.
  • Easter Sunday Mass, 11 a.m., April 12.

Video links to the Masses will also be available at the scheduled broadcast times on the university’s Facebook page and Twitter feed. The services will be archived after their initial broadcast and remain available online for later viewing.

The university will continue to broadcast Sunday Mass through May 17, which would have been Commencement Day for the Class of 2020.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, graduation ceremonies have been postponed, but SBU President Dr. Dennis DePerro has told students he is committed to holding a ceremony for them later this year, once large gatherings are approved again by governmental officials.
