Annual SBU Move Out off this year, but students can still donate locally

The annual St. Bonaventure Move Out Sale will not be held this year, but students are still encouraged to donate items they choose not to take home to local donation centers.

The annual St. Bonaventure Move Out Sale will not be held this year, but students are still encouraged to donate items they choose not to take home to local donation centers.

“The university calendar is just quirky this year, and doesn’t allow us enough time to properly set up, conduct the sale, and tear it back down,” said Alice Miller Nation, director of University Ministries.

“The limited time between Commencement, which is a week later than normal, and the annual Alumni Reunion presents a challenge too difficult to overcome. We considered holding it after Reunion, but we just couldn’t get enough students back in June to assist with the effort because too many will have already started their summer jobs.”

However, students can still make a difference by donating their unwanted items to one of three local agencies. Students are asked to abide by the items these organizations are able to accept, highlighted below.

The Bridge Thrift Store

Open: Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (arrive by 2:30 pm with donations) 

  • Will accept: clean and ready to sell household items, clothing.
  • Will not accept: furniture, computer items.

St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store 
441 N. Union St., Olean

Open: Monday-Friday 10 a.m. -2 p.m. 

  • Will accept: clothing, household items.
  • Will not accept: computers or computer accessories, beds, books.  

Goodwill Donation Center 

3121 W. State St., Olean
Open: Sunday-Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. 

  • Will accept: clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories, handbags, luggage, household goods. Must be clean and in good condition.
