A second wave of St. Bonaventure University alumni will arrive on campus this weekend (June 3-5) for Alumni Reunion.

Alumni celebrating their 5th through 45th class reunions have been invited back for the celebration. This is the second reunion at SBU in the last two weeks. On May 20-22, more than 450 alumni celebrated their 50th through 70th reunions.

Alumni Director Joe Flanagan, ’74, expects more than 1,000 alumni and friends to attend.

“After a long-awaited return to in-person events, we are so happy to welcome back our 2022 reunion classes, as well as our 2021 and 2020 reunion classes for their postponed reunions,” Flanagan said.

Accommodations on and off campus have been sold out for months.

“The only uncertainty we have is always the weather, but it looks like it will be perfect,” added Flanagan.

Friday’s opening day activities include class dinners at venues on and off campus.

Saturday is packed with events from morning till night, including open houses across campus, talks and presentations, and campus tours. Highlights include a look back at the university’s 164-year history by the McCarthy family, Bob, ’76, Ann, ’74, and Dan, ’10; tours of the new Dennis R. DePerro School of Health Professions in Francis Hall; a presentation on Thomas Merton by Fr. Dan Riley, O.F.M., ’64; and a reception for former student-athletes.

The weekend concludes Sunday with a farewell breakfast and a 9:30 a.m. Mass in the University Chapel.

Later this month, St. Bonaventure will host a special weekend for members of the Class of 2020 who had to vacate campus in their final semester due to the pandemic. The June 17-18 event will bring the class back together and give the graduates the opportunity to participate in traditional Commencement-related activities that they missed.
