St. Bonaventure men’s club hockey team faces Binghamton in league semifinals Saturday

St. Bonaventure University’s men’s club hockey team will face off against Binghamton University Saturday in the Upstate New York Collegiate Hockey League semifinals.

St. Bonaventure and Binghamton hit the ice at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Rochester Ice Center in Fairport, New York.

The Bonnies advanced to the semifinals after a 7-4 win Feb. 16 over Brockport. In their Division Championship Playoff win, SBU had two goals each from freshman Connor O’Brien and senior captain Dan McCarthy, and one goal each from Mike Rappa, Locke Wischmann and Andrew Hayn. Teammate Ethan MacKrell had a playmaker (three assists) and goalie Ryan Kaska made 32 saves.

The Bonnies, 15-5, are led by head coach Taylor Rosenberg and assistant coaches Michael Granger, Jordan Farnham and Joe Colligan. Fr. Dave Blake, O.F.M., is the team chaplain.   

Assistant captain Jake Kaempf has led the team on the scoreboard with 41 points (26 goals and 15 assists) in just 17 games played. 

The team is member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 2 and competes in the Upstate New York Collegiate Hockey League.

Saturday’s hockey game will be streamed at https://www.facebook.com/wrur.thesting/. A win for the Bonnies on Saturday would advance the team to the conference finals at 4 p.m. on Sunday against the winner of Erie Community College and Union College.
