• Reach out to your Admissions Counselor! We want to hear from you, and we want to help. It’s easier to review an application when we know the applicant.
  
• Visit campus if you are able! Campus visits are a great way to envision yourself as a student. Ask to speak with current students and faculty members. Maybe even eat lunch on campus and picture yourself as a student on campus.
  
• Be your authentic self and have fun. No matter what, this process should be exciting. It can get stressful sometimes, but if you stay true to yourself, you will find the perfect-fit campus for you.

• Do not be afraid to ask questions! If you are interested in specific clubs/organizations on campus, ask about them. If you are curious about scholarships, ask! You want to make sure that you are fully informed about what a school has to offer for you. Utilize your admissions counselors, they are there for you and will answer any questions you have about the admissions process or the school. 

• Trust your gut - if you get the feeling of finding your “home” when you step onto campus, remember that feeling and trust it. Let your gut guide your decision process, trusting yourself will lead you to making the best decision for YOU. 

• Enjoy your college search process and don’t stress. The search process may seem overwhelming, but it does not have to be. This is an exciting time, so enjoy it!

Bio: Bernie joined St. Bonaventure in May of 2015 and has more than 35 years of successful outcomes in the areas of enrollment management, admissions, financial aid/scholarship leveraging, retention, student services, program implementation, and strategic planning. Since joining the University, Bernie has implemented enrollment initiatives and efforts that have increased enrollment by 50% surpassing 3,000 total students in fall 2025. Prior to joining the University, he served as Vice President for Enrollment Management at West Virginia Wesleyan. His background is diverse, with comprehensive experience at both private and public institutions, including Brockport College, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Mercyhurst University.
