St. Bonaventure Jazz Ensemble and Concert Band to perform in Oct. 29 concert on campus

St. Bonaventure University’s Jazz Ensemble and Concert Band will perform in concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, in Rigas Family Theater of the Regina A. Quick Center for the arts on campus.
 
The concert is free and open to the public.
 
The Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Les Sabina, professor of music and chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, will play a combination of swing and Latin-based arrangements. Featured soloists include junior Domini Dalfonso on alto sax, freshman Jack Haskell on tenor sax, and junior Nic Gelyon on piano.
 
The Concert Band, directed by Isaac Spaeth, adjunct instructor of music, will perform Frank Erickson’s classic Third Symphony for Band, consisting of three movements.
 
Additional upcoming university concerts include a performance by the SBU Concert Choir and SBU Chamber Singers at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Quick Center. Under the director of Dr. Brian Stevens, adjunct instructor of music, the groups will perform a variety of classic and modern works for large and small choral ensembles.
 
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts’ annual Christmas concert will be presented at the Quick Center at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. Program specifics are in development and will be announced at a later date.
