Sep 08, 2022

Fr. David Couturier, O.F.M. Cap., associate professor of theology and Franciscan studies and executive director of the Franciscan Institute, will attend his first meeting as a member of the Viterbo University Board of Trustees on Oct. 9. Fr. David is one of four new trustees elected to the board in May and whose terms began July 1.

Founded in 1890 by the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, Viterbo University is a private Catholic university in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Like St. Bonaventure, Viterbo is inspired and guided by the teachings of St. Francis and St. Clare, and is committed to fostering an inclusive environment rooted in integrity, service and social justice.

Viterbo is led by Olean native Dr. Rick Trietley, whose long tenure at St. Bonaventure included a nine-year term as vice president of student affairs. He joined Viterbo as VP of student affairs in 2017 and was named Viterbo’s 10th president in February of this year.

Fr. David serves as a member of the President’s Council at St. Bonaventure. Prior to joining St. Bonaventure he served as dean of the School of Theology and associate professor of pastoral studies at St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland, and as director of pastoral planning for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston, Massachusetts.
