Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Mu Alpha, two honor societies at St. Bonaventure University, inducted new members on Wednesday, April 29.
The induction ceremony was held in the Athletics Hall of Fame Room in the Reilly Center, and Jeff Alevy, CEO of the YMCA of the Twin Tiers in Olean, was the featured speaker.
Beta Gamma Sigma is a national honor society for business and management programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Election to a lifetime membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest honor a business student can receive, and the honor can be bestowed upon undergraduate students as well as students pursuing master’s degrees. The inductees were presented by Dr. Zahid Khairullah, chapter president and adviser.
The newest undergraduate members of Beta Gamma Sigma are Karalyn Anastasia of Olean, N.Y., Michael Gold of Allegany, N.Y., Patricia Gould of Pittsford, N.Y., Sarah Hanno of Lowville, N.Y., Bradi Hopkins of Arcade, N.Y., Trevor Nourse of Delevan, N.Y., Katherine Sinclair of Cortland, N.Y., Gerard Stankewica of Peconic, N.Y., James Thompson of Ontario, N.Y., and Kevin Veeley of Milford,Conn.
The 2015 master’s inductees are Ryan Chapman of Arcade, N.Y., Maureen Fyke of Crystal Beach, Ontario, Canada, Krystina Rusch of Angola, N.Y., and Christine Wittmeyer of Williamsville, N.Y.
During the induction, Hopkins was awarded a $1,000 scholarship, which was jointly presented by St. Bonaventure’s School of Business and the National Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.
Alpha Mu Alpha is the national marketing honor society recognizing and rewarding scholastic achievement of outstanding marketing students across the country. Dr. Durriya Khairullah, professor and faculty adviser, presented the inductees.
The 2015 inductees to Alpha Mu Alpha are Virginia Csillag of West Liberty, Ohio, Kelly Hill of Pittsford, N.Y., Eric Hostetter of Rochester, N.Y., Danielle Hutchings of Binghamton, N.Y., and Maxwell Sinicki of Endwell, N.Y.
