Dr. Susan Branco, assistant professor of counselor education, was awarded the Compadrazgo/Comadrazgo Award from the Association of Multicultural Counseling and Development, a division of the American Counseling Association. 

The award honors a member of the Latinx Network of AMCD who is active in the mentorship of Latinx counseling students or professionals, demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism and social justice, and has demonstrated leadership within the Latinx Network.

On March 26, Branco and two former students presented on their research, "Liberating Our Ancestors: Adult Colombian Adoptee First Family Reunions," at the Adoption Initiative Conference.

The Adoption Initiative seeks to create a dynamic structure where scholars, professionals, researchers and individuals interested in advancing our understanding about all the aspects of the adoption experience are brought together routinely to discuss their most recent contributions.
