St. Bonaventure University has created more financial incentives for students to participate in the university’s summer Oxford program.
One student from each academic school at the university, and two from the School of Arts & Sciences, will be awarded $1,000 for SBU’s Francis E. Kelley Oxford Program at Trinity College.
The dean of each school will award the scholarships based entirely on each dean’s criteria and selection process.
In addition, $10,000 in scholarship money has been made available to assist students interested in Oxford with the greatest financial need, as determined by the university’s Office of Financial Aid.
News of the additional aid for Oxford comes less than a month after Honors program students learned they would receive $500 scholarships starting in summer 2020 if they are accepted into the program.
A typical Oxford program schedule includes four days each week in classes and “learning communities,” with three-day weekends reserved for field trips in England or travel in Europe.
The program includes trips to explore London, Stonehenge, the beautiful and ancient city of Bath, and the studio where the Harry Potter movies were filmed.
St. Bonaventure’s 2020 Oxford program runs from July 3 to Aug. 14. Students interested in registering should contact Oxford program director Michael Jones-Kelley at mjoneske@sbu.edu.
Honors students interested in the Oxford scholarship should contact Dr. Adam Brown at abrown@sbu.edu.
