A strong focus on clinical skills & compassionate care
Attending St. Bonaventure University's Occupational Therapy program was a transformative experience that laid a strong foundation for my career. The faculty were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, fostering an environment of collaboration and growth. They were not just educators but mentors, encouraging me to challenge myself through a variety of experiences. The hands-on learning opportunities prepared me for the challenges of the field while instilling confidence in my abilities.
The program's strong focus on both clinical skills and compassionate care equipped me with the tools needed to excel in my fieldwork experiences, including pediatric outpatient and home health settings. It was during these experiences where I developed a passion for pediatric occupational therapy. Now, I am excited to be working in a pediatric outpatient setting where I have the opportunity to support children with neurodevelopment differences.
I am grateful for the guidance and mentorship from St. Bonaventure’s professors and feel prepared for the opportunities ahead in this rewarding field.

A challenging & rewarding fieldwork experience
My time as a student at SBU was nothing short of extraordinary. I was immersed in a supportive community of like-minded individuals, driven by a shared passion for helping others. The faculty’s dedication to our success was evident in their personalized guidance and support. But most importantly, I formed lifelong friendships and connections that will inspire and support me through my professional career.
One of my two fieldwork rotations was completed at MidAmerica Orthopaedics, an outpatient hand clinic. It was a challenging and immensely rewarding experience. Working closely with experienced practitioners, I dove into the complexities of hand therapy, developing my skills and expanding my knowledge base. Through hard work, I not only excelled during my rotation, but also earned a job offer as an OT at the same clinic.
I am thrilled to continue my journey as a licensed OT and continue helping patients recover from upper extremity injuries and maximize their full potential.
