The RN to B.S. in Nursing program in St. Bonaventure's School of Health Professions will host its inaugural Nursing Symposium on campus on Saturday, May 9.
Scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Doyle Hall, the symposium will revolve around the theme "Wellness Matters." Organizers have issued a call for abstracts from those who wish to submit a poster or give a podium presentation at the event.
"We're keeping the topic broad so that nurses from all specialties feel welcome as presenters and attendees," said Dr. Connie Perkins, RN, CNE, founding director of nursing at St. Bonaventure and organizer of the event. "No matter what your specialty — school, geriatric or pediatric nurse, a nurse educator or one involved in staff development — we're confident the symposium will be interesting and educational. We're all about wellness, whether it's for ourselves, our patients, our students, our coworkers or our staffs."
The tentative schedule includes speakers on a range of topics in the morning, a break for lunch, followed by poster and podium presentations in the afternoon. A complete schedule will be available at a later date.
The cost of the conference is $50 and includes contact (continuing education) hours and lunch.
Proceeds from the event will aid the St. Bonaventure University Franciscan Center for Social Concern's support of the South Sudan Villages Clinic.
