Dr. Brian Moritz, ’99, director of online master's degree programs in journalism and an associate professor at the Jandoli School, recently had a study published in the Journal of Sports Media.
Moritz’s study, which he co-wrote with Dr. Jason Zenor from SUNY Oswego, is titled “Damaged Goods? Perspectives on the Dehumanization of NFL Players by Fan Typology,” and examines the attitudes of pro football fans toward player safety
and player activism.
Moritz also had a paper accepted by the Summit on Communication & Sport, held by the International Association for Communication in Sport and scheduled for March 2023 in Barcelona, Spain. Moritz’s conference paper looks at the portrayal of sports
journalist Trent Crimm in the Apple TV+ show “Ted Lasso” from a sociological and ethical perspective.
