Nursing staff completes instructor and prevention training

Oct 16, 2019 Connie Perkins, Ph.D., RN, CNE, founding director of the RN to B.S. in Nursing program, and two nursing faculty members recently completed instructor and prevention training programs.

Perkins, program lecturer Erin Lundeen, and Dr. Suzanne Soltysik, a clinical assistant professor, became instructors through the American College of Surgeons for Stop the Bleed, a national campaign that teaches people what to do in a bleeding emergency. They may now offer the training on campus.

They also completed Narcan opioid overdose prevention training and, if needed, are able to respond with Narcan to an emergency on campus.
