    OTHER EDUCATION
    PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I was an adjunct instructor Wake Forest University and Northwestern University, for two years prior to joining the faculty at St. Bonaventure.

I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor and the owner of my private practice in North Carolina, where I provide therapy to individuals that have mental health concerns.

Prior to that I was working as a licensed clinical mental health counselor at Duke University, working with undergraduate and graduate students. I also have experience as a school counselor, community counselor, and crisis counselor working with children and adults who have mental health needs.

    ACCOMPLISHMENTS
    TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
My teaching philosophy is derived from the constructivist model. Constructivist educators pose questions and problems, and then guide students to help them find their own answers. The constructivist approach puts the accountability on the students to assess how they gain understanding after a lesson.
    CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS/PROJECTS
    • School counselors and the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on the social emotional development of adolescents and emerging adults.
    • Dually licensed counselors (school and mental health counselors) working with children and adolescents.
    • Marginalized, discriminated and oppressed communities.
