PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Dr. Ken McCurdy is a professional counselor and counselor educator. He is a Professor and Program Director of the Counselor Education Program at St. Bonaventure University. He is licensed as a mental health counselor and clinical supervisor. Before coming to St. Bonaventure, he was a faculty member at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, for almost 20 years. Prior to Gannon, Dr. McCurdy served as the director of the Counseling Program at Malone College in Canton, Ohio, and was an adjunct faculty member at the University of Scranton and at the University of Dayton.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Dr. McCurdy has a varied clinical background. Much of his counseling work has been with children, couples, and families. He has worked in inpatient psychiatric settings, college counseling, outpatient counseling and in residential settings with children, adolescents, and families. Dr. McCurdy teaches and utilizes creative and expressive arts techniques in his counseling practice. He believes that play is a crucially overlooked method of communicating with all people.

Dr. McCurdy has two wonderful adult children, Konner and Meghan. He enjoys spending time with his family and sailing. He was the assistant sailing coach for the Gannon University Sailing Team. He also spends time competitively sailing throughout the Great Lakes. Much of his time is spent as an advocate for the counseling profession and the belief that human beings are socially driven to strive to be the best they can be given the assets and strengths that we possess.
