Dr. Anne Foerst, professor of Computer Science, gave a lecture titled "Large Language Models: Theological Implications" at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.
This lecture was part of Butler's Compass series on Theology and Society, which, in the academic year 2024-25, addresses the topic artificial minds. Foerst also met with students of the accompanying class.
The lecture was attended by about 100 people, including students, faculty and city residents. Foerst covered how LLMs work, ethical concerns, and how LLMs challenge our understanding of ourselves.
