SBU's Simpson among select group to join Netherlands workshop
May 01, 2025
Dr. Scott Simpson, professor of Chemistry and Honors Program director, participated in a workshop on computational materials research, with a special focus on molecular dynamics (MD) methodologies applied to energy and storage materials, at the Lorentz Center, Universiteit Leiden, the Netherlands.
This workshop introduced participants to the GEMDAT analysis tool, a flexible, user-friendly, and open-access Python-based code developed by Delft University of Technology and the eScience Center of Amsterdam. Machine learning (ML) potentials were also taught and discussed.
This exclusive global workshop required an application, and only 55 participants were selected to participate.
