St. Bonaventure University is engaging community members to “Fall in Love with Science” this Sunday at Olean’s new Farmers Market in Lincoln Park.

The interactive program, for adults and children, runs from 1-3 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

This tabling event includes a dozen different activities, including:

• Fruit DNA Necklaces and Nutrition Game, presented by the student chapter of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
• STEM Education Activities, presented by Enactus and the School of Education.
• 3-D Printed Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Tips, presented by Jim Hilyer, BOCES product design and manufacturing teacher, and Dr. Heather Macroy-Coppola, occupational therapist at Rehab Today.
• Stars We See in September, presented by SBU’s Astronomy Club.
• How to Make Silly Putty, presented by Dr. Scott Simpson and SBU’s Chemistry Department.

“The name originated last summer from a conversation with Laura Kopec, an Olean biology teacher,” said Dr. Xiao-Ning Zhang, professor of biology. “After a year of brainstorming and preparation, we are very excited to see it come to life as we envisioned. The event celebrates science in our life and will share the joy of hands-on learning with the surrounding community.”

The event is sponsored by the Southern Tier Satellite Center of WNY STEM at St. Bonaventure University.

Limited edition 3D-printed souvenirs and raffle prizes are provided by CA-BOCES and Tasty Time Café.
