SBU Marketing & Communications Internship


Position Type: Unpaid Internship/ For academic credit (Internship hours count as off-campus hours) 
Department: St. Bonaventure University Office of Marketing & Communications 
Primary Supervisor: Faith Gworek, Integrated Marketing Specialist (Social Media Manager) 
Work Location: On-campus (hybrid) 
Schedule: Flexible - 2 to 25 hrs/week depending on student interest & initiative 
Term: Minimum of one full semester commitment (with strong potential for continuation)  
 
Position Summary 

St. Bonaventure University’s Marketing & Communications team seeks enthusiastic, creative student interns to serve as the faces of SBU’s social media platforms, helping to showcase student life for prospective students, families, alumni, and the campus community. Interns will gain hands-on experience with social media content creation, photography, writing, and marketing campaigns all while upholding the university’s Franciscan values.


Key Responsibilities

Weekly Deliverables: 

  • Produce one piece of digital content per week (e.g., TikTok, Instagram Reel, photo carousel, stories, or day‑in‑the‑life features) 
  • Content to showcase authentic student life and align with SBU branding and values 

Major Projects (1–2 per semester): 

  • Partner with Faith Gworek or fellow interns on campaigns (e.g., alumni highlights, event coverage) 

Optional Expanded Roles: 

  • Writing: Feature articles on students/ faculty/ staff on campus initiatives, press release support, university magazine content 
  • Photography: Capture campus life, events 
  • Digital Strategy: Assist with analytics, planning, and MarComm team collaboration 

Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment at St. Bonaventure University 
  • Passion for content creation both in front of and behind the camera 
  • Creative mindset, strong written and verbal communication skills, reliability 
  • Commitment to Franciscan values and positive campus representation 
  • Measurable contribution (content & time) toward academic internship credit 
  • Willingness to work on a flexible schedule 
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively

Learning Outcomes & Benefits: 

  • Earn academic internship credit for the Jandoli School of Communication or the School of Business 
  • Build a professional portfolio with real, published content

Time Commitment: 

  • Flexible weekly hours: 2 – 25 hrs, depending on student goals and internship credit requirements 
  • Weekly content deliverables and periodic collaboration on larger projects required 
  • Must maintain performance aligned with SBU values and professional conduct
