K-12 SCIENCE & MATH TEACHER WORKSHOP

JULY 8-11, 2019
And one-day field trip, date TBA

Understand your models - Integrate Computer Science into STE(A)M Lessons

Cattaraugus County Department of HealthSt. Bonaventure University conducts an annual lab development workshop for K-12 math and science teachers each summer. Instructors are faculty from the university's departments of biology, chemistry, physics, computer science and psychology.

The summer K–12 Science & Math Teacher Workshop has two goals:

  1. To bring K-12 science teachers, school administrators and SBU science faculty together for a continuing discussion on bridging the gap between K-12 and college STEM education. Any challenges recognized from the discussion can lead to opportunities for networking and new partnerships between K-12 schools and SBU math and science departments and/or between K-12 schools for both short-term and long-term purposes.
  2. To provide a hands-on experience for K-12 teachers to develop integrative lessons. These activities are designed to be transferable to K-12 classrooms to provoke student interests and increase their preparations in the STEM field that is in high demand.

New York State Continuing Teacher/Leader Education (CTLE) credits are provided by Cattaraugus/Allegany BOCES.
