The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University will host the Olean Area Young Professionals group in its galleries Thursday, in an event that’s the first of its kind for both organizations.
All area young professionals in the Allegany and Olean region are invited the event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday and are encouraged to stay for the Friends of Good Music concert of Kinan Azmeh’s CityBand beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Quick Center’s Rigas Family Theater.
Undertaken as a joint effort between Sean Conklin, assistant curator of the Quick Center, and Christopher Michel, director of marketing and communications for Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, the event looks to connect emerging professionals from local businesses to one another while also highlighting one of the many local cultural opportunities that young people can take advantage of.
“Olean Area Young Professionals (OAYP) is very grateful to staff at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts for opening their doors to host our group. Part of OAYP’s mission is to expose our members to unique elements of the greater Olean area,” said Michel, who helps organize the young professional group. “The Quick Center is a perfect spot for our group to visit and network.”
Conklin feels the event is great opportunity to highlight the many engaging activities the Quick Center offers for the surrounding community.
“When I first heard about the development of this group, I immediately started to formulate a plan of how to connect the members with the Quick Center and St. Bonaventure. I’m always telling my friends we have all this cool stuff to see and do on campus — from performances to artist talks to community service opportunities — connecting the two groups seemed like a natural fit,” said Conklin. “Chris and I both agreed we wanted a program that was new and different than the typical OAYP experience and I am beyond excited with what our staff has been able to put together.”

Conklin and Michel agree that the event will be a great evening of socializing and connecting.

The QCA is also offering the Young Professional Group discounts on season ticket packages for Friends of Good Music concerts if they are first-time subscribers: The cost of a seven-concert package is $92; a six-concert package is $84.
