Student Success Center outlines academic support services

While in-person instruction is suspended at St. Bonaventure, academic support services through the Student Success Center will remain available for students completing their courses online.

  1. The Writing Lab will operate by appointment only. Appointments can be made by emailing the lab. Include a copy of your paper and your professor’s instructions for the assignment in your email to the Writing Lab
  2. Course tutoring will be facilitated online. Students who have existing tutoring appointments were already emailed instructions from The Learning Center. Email the TLC. 
  3. Students who wish to set up new tutoring appointments should email the TLC. 
  4. Students with disabilities who need accommodations in their online courses should contact Adriane Spencer, director of Disability Support Services.
  5. Supplemental Instruction sessions will be facilitated online. Students will receive instructions from the SI tutor assigned to their class.
  6. Academic counseling appointments are available in-person or online. These appointments can help students with study skills, time management, or the adjustment to online coursework. Students can email the Student Success Center to set up an appointment.
  7. Workshops on succeeding in online courses will be announced soon. These workshops will be recorded and available on My.SBU.

If you need assistance accessing digital academic support, please let us know ASAP.

The Student Success Center will be open from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Evening hours have been suspended until in-person instruction resumes on campus. If you have questions about academic support resources available, please contact the Student Success Center or send an email.

Dr. Scott Simpson and student in a lab
Dr. Scott Simpson, an associate professor of chemistry at St. Bonaventure, has been awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation CAREER grant for $544,892 to support his research proposal titled “Investigating the Molecular Corking Effect for Potential Hydrogen Storage.” This award is considered the most prestigious award given by the NSF to early-career faculty.

St. Bonaventure alumna Jessie Briggs Joyce
Jessie Briggs Joyce needed four visits to St. Bonaventure University before deciding to attend. Today, it takes less than two seconds for the 2013 graduate to tell you she made the right choice. While at SBU, Briggs Joyce forged bonds with faculty and fellow students and found strengths she continues to draw on. In May 2019, she earned a doctoral degree in social psychology from Temple University and now is an assistant teaching professor of psychology at Syracuse University.

Bonaventure student Cassidey Kavathas

Journalism major Cassidey Kavathas didn't want to come to St. Bonaventure, but her mother encouraged her to attend Communications Day as a high school student and to take a campus tour. Well, her mom was right. St. Bonaventure was more welcoming than any campus she visited and she was made to feel part of the Bonaventure family before she was even enrolled.
