Buffalo artist Catherine Shuman Miller will present a lecture and artist demonstration on the making of her woodblock series at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at St. Bonaventure University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. 

The lecture and demonstration is free and open to the public.

Exhibiting this semester in the Paul and Toni Branch Gallery of the Quick Center, Shuman Miller has created a series of woodblock prints that interpret the Hamsah, (symbol of the hand, and a good luck charm) with playfulness and humor. Hamsah literally means five (as in the five digits of the hand) and is derived from both the Hebrew and Arabic languages. The exhibition is open through Dec. 14, 2014.
