New York state Assemblyman Michael Kearns will speak on business issues as they relate to state government during a presentation at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Hilbert College, home to St. Bonaventure’s Buffalo Center for Graduate Studies.
Kearns, who represents District 142 in the State Assembly, is a lifelong Buffalo resident. He holds degrees from Erie Community College and Canisius College.
After building a career in the private sector — eventually becoming vice president of Kearns & Associates, a family-owned small business — Kearns entered local government, deciding he could no longer sit on the sidelines and watch a government he felt was no longer working for the people.
Since first running for government in 2005, Kearns has earned a reputation for protecting small businesses and citizens from unnecessary corruption.
Kearns’ talk will revolve around his experiences in both the private and public sectors and his observations on how they interact.
This event will take place in Bogel Hall, room 101. It is open to all alumni, faculty, staff and students at St. Bonaventure University and Hilbert College.
