Del Rey Honeycutt, MSC, LMHC, associate dean for student and community wellbeing, and Center for Student Wellness counselors Hailey Gattuso, MSEd, and Chance Olivas, MSEd, presented at the three-day Counseling Centers of New York conference, held at Hamilton college in early June. 

The title of the session was "Navigating a Confidential Space in a Competitive Environment," which discussed data from a student-athlete survey done with SBU student-athletes in 2021. It addressed barriers, challenges and successes of having a counselor embedded in athletics as well as strategies for helping to create an environment conducive to a positive student-athlete experience and improve overall wellbeing. 

The session had one of the largest numbers of attendees.
