Daniel Hungerford has been named vice president for Finance & Administration at St. Bonaventure University. He begins work July 1.
“Dan brings to us a wealth of experience in both financial analysis and strategic planning, both at the collegiate and corporate levels,” said DePerro, who’s completing his first year as president of St. Bonaventure.
“More than that, he feels like he belongs at St. Bonaventure. People who met Dan during the interview process when he visited campus were impressed not only with his range of knowledge about financial issues, but with his personality.”
Nancy K. Taylor, who has served as acting chief financial officer since August of 2016, will return to her role as controller. Karl Strauss had been serving in that role and will become on July 1 the director of financial analysis and reporting.
“I really want to thank Nancy and Karl for stepping up to the plate and delivering for us in very challenging financial times,” DePerro said. “They helped me to understand the financial framework at St. Bonaventure in my first year and were dedicated and responsible stewards of our budget.”
Since 2015, Hungerford has been vice president for Finance and Administration and chief financial officer at Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss.
In that role, he directed and managed eight divisions made up of more than 60 employees in the areas of Finance/Business Office, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities, Conference and Dining Services, Risk Management and the Campus Store.
He was controller at Marietta College from 2011 to 2015.
“I’m very grateful to be chosen to serve as vice president for Finance and Administration at such a prestigious institution as St. Bonaventure University,” Hungerford said. “I look forward to the challenges ahead and working with Dr. DePerro and the rest of St. Bonaventure’s faculty, staff, and students. The future is bright and I'm glad I'll be a part of winning team.”
Among his accomplishments at Millsaps, Hungerford:
- successfully led and managed, simultaneously, the renovation of a $14.5 million Christian Center and the construction of a new $4.5 million Visual Arts Center.
- strategically delivered 10 percent sustainable and positive net-revenue growth by lowering the annual financial aid discount rate while simultaneously increasing retention rates by 2 percent in a very competitive private liberal arts college environment.
