READ 570. Diagnosis and Assessment of Literacy

This course is the first of a three-course sequence related to the diagnosis and teaching of learners who experience literacy difficulties. This course is designed to provide prospective literacy teachers with an array of formal and informal assessment tools and techniques to use when diagnosing learners’ who are experiencing struggles with reading, writing, or spelling. The overarching course project involves the assessment and evaluation of a learner's literacy achievement, skills, and strategies, and the construction of a cogent report that touches on all areas of the learner’s strengths and limitations or instructional needs.
