BIO 294. Genomics
An introduction to the fields of genomics, functional genomics, and proteomics. The course begins with a description of methods used for sequencing and analyzing genomes. We then explore what is known about the structure and functional organization of the genomes of prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. The course concludes with a discussion of the various approaches being used to determine the functions of individual genes, and how gene expression is regulated. In the laboratory, students use online databases and computational tools to explore and analyze genome sequences. Two hours lecture/1 laboratory per week.
