QCA Collage 2024


Visual and performing arts programming hosted by the Quick Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.

The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts and the Tri-County Arts Council are teaming up to present QCA Collage, an open house showcasing visual and performing arts programming at the Quick Center on Saturday, April 20.

Activities will take place inside the Quick Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The Quick Center's galleries, theater and common spaces will bustle with musical and dance performances, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.

“QCA Collage is a collaboration between faculty and students in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts and the Quick Center,” said Evelyn Penman, QCA assistant director and senior curator. “We wanted to showcase all that is going on in the Quick Center and the talented students who participate in extracurricular music, dance, theater and vocal activities.”

QCA Collage activities include:

  • Art exhibit, demonstration and sale by local artists. Hosted by the Tri-County Arts Council, an advocate for art creation and appreciation in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Allegany counties.
  • Dresser Foundation Gallery: Visual and performing arts students and faculty will present theatrical and musical performances inspired by the gallery’s paintings. These “Art Speaks” performances will take place at 11:30 a.m., 12:25 p.m., and 1:20 p.m.
  • The Quick Center's Rigas Theater will offer the following performances:
    • 11 a.m.: Dancer's Loft dancers
    • 11:30 a.m.: SBU Dance Team
    • 1 p.m.: SBU Concert Band
    • 1:30 p.m.: SBU Jazz Band
    • 2 p.m.: SBU Choir
  • Paint your own masterpiece from the University Art Collection.
  • Visit the Asian Gallery to make origami animals.
  • Pottery exhibition and a pottery-throwing demonstration.
  • Airigami, of Rochester, New York, a team of artists who create large-scale installations, illustrations, and experiences entirely out of balloons, will enlist the help of attendees to create a balloon mural.
  • Local caricature artist Eric Jones, who has grabbed headlines across the region with his sand and snow sculptures, will draw people’s caricatures from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
