Spectrum

clip artSpectrum is St. Bonaventure University's gay-straight alliance. Spectrum regularly meets on campus in order to support and promote awareness and acceptance of all LGBTA students (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders and Allies) on campus and around the globe.

Spectrum is part of the Damietta Center  and Pride U, an association of gay-straight alliances in Western New York.

Spectrum hosts various events throughout the school year in order to educate the campus community about LGBT issues such as tolerance and HIV/AIDS awareness, and to support LGBT individuals. In the past, Spectrum has organized and participated in Day of Silence and Coming Out Week events, Open Forums, Rathskeller parties to promote understanding of LGBT issues and many other events.

Through all of its activities, Spectrum honors the Catholic-Franciscan tradition of respect for the dignity of all people.

We encourage all interested students to join Spectrum! Whether students identify as LGBT or Ally (Straight), we appreciate everyone's interest, membership and support. Students can take on leadership responsibilities every semester, help plan events, lead discussions, and move into higher leadership positions based on their levels of interest and participation.

All members of this club are treated with respect regardless of their gender or sexuality, be it gay, straight, or any other identification. We welcome you to drop by a meeting or help out with events around campus!
