Requirements for a Bachelor of Arts in Theater

* THTR 299. Production Practicum in Theater is a one-credit course that theater majors take six times.

** The School of Arts and Sciences requires all majors to complete a foreign language course at the 202 level or higher. Students not prepared to begin at this level will need to take additional courses in the language, which count as general electives.

Requirements for a Minor in Theater

Non-majors may obtain a theater minor by completing the requirements below. For an overview of a particular course, click on its title. Our Course Descriptions page lists all theater courses.

• THTR 101. Introduction to the Theater 
• THTR 130. Stagecraft and Theater Technology  or 
  THTR 201. Acting, Level One 
• THTR 211. History of American Theater or 
  MU 314. The American Musical Theater 
• THTR 299. Production Practicum in Theater (a one-credit course that you take three times)
• one approved three-credit theater elective and six credits of other approved electives.

To declare a minor, a special form must be filled out and filed with the Records Office by the end of the student's junior year. The appropriate form is available from the student's advisor or from the Office of the Registrar.
