Your generosity makes education - and dreams - possible for students

Keith Church

Keith Church, '12

Students are our first priority. We are committed to helping young men and women throughout their intellectual, spiritual and personal journeys.

Often, this help begins with offering qualified students much-needed financial assistance. For some, this assistance provides the only route to a university education. For others, it means being able to focus more on studies and less on jobs to generate needed income.

The ability of St. Bonaventure to extend financial assistance to students allows us to attract the type of qualified individuals we want - those who can best benefit from the values-driven educational experience we offer. This helps keep us competitive in an increasingly competitive environment.

More than 90 percent of our undergraduates receive some amount of financial aid from the University - aid that exceeds $25 million per year. Less than 5 percent of that amount, however, comes from endowed scholarship funds.

A commitment in perpetuity, a viable demonstration of support

For a minimum of a $25,000, you can provide income in perpetuity that provides critical support for student scholarships. In addition, your scholarship becomes a permanent tribute to the person whose name it bears. Some may find that the minimum endowment level is unattainable.

Our staff will work with you to create a multi-year plan. Your gifts will be invested by the University until the minimum goal of $25,000 is reached.

Your decision to endow a scholarship will allow deserving students to receive the financial assistance they need so that they will be able to prepare themselves for meaningful and productive lives. By endowing a scholarship, you give tangible support to the Franciscan values that make the University the unique place we know it to be.

Students with big dreams say 'Thanks, we couldn't do it without you'

Shannon Conheady

I am a freshman at St. Bonaventure, pursuing a double major in history and psychology, and I am involved in a number of clubs and activities.

I am on the club rugby team, which won the state championship and earned a spot in the national playoffs; I joined Embrace it Africa, a non-profit organization that helps underprivileged students in Bethlehem, Uganda; I am in Bonacoustics, the a capella group on campus; and I tutor two juniors in history.

I love the size of this campus. It's easy to get to know people and professors well. I'm still somewhat undecided, but I think I want to join a Peace Corps-like organization for a few years and then go to law school to study minority rights. I would love to be able to help people who really need it.

I am grateful that there are people like you who donate to help students pay for college. Thank you so much for your gift.

  Brandon Shute

I am a sophomore pre-med major and have already been accepted into LECOM Medical School through St. Bonaventure's Franciscan Health Care Professions Program. It's what brought me to St. Bonaventure. That and the fact that both of my parents are graduates. St. Bonaventure is the first school I looked at.

I captain the men’s club soccer team and I play intramural soccer and volleyball.

I really feel as though I can accomplish anything here. My goal is to become an orthopedic surgeon and eventually own my own practice. I would never be able to accomplish any of that without your scholarship donation.

Thank you very much for this scholarship. Without it, there is no way I could fulfill my dream and reach my goal in life. This really means a lot to me and I can’t thank you enough for what you have done.
