New York state residents receive preference
These requirements include both academic and comportment standards, the MCAT and continued service work and clinical exposure.
Applicants must submit a single complete application to SBU. Applications that are complete by Dec. 15 receive priority. Later applications will be considered up to Jan. 30 as space allows.
A separate application for Upstate is NOT required to enter the program. Required application materials that do not fit into online applications should be mailed to the Office of Admissions (see address at bottom of page). Transfer students are not eligible for this program.
Qualified applicants will be interviewed at SBU by invitation in January and February. A second interview is conducted at Upstate by invitation in March. Decisions on acceptance are made by late March to early April.
Acceptance into this program indicates your willingness to participate in the Rural Medical Scholars Program (RSMP). You will therefore be assigned to the RMSP track as a medical student at SUNY Upstate Medical University.
The Common Application is preferred for this combined degree program.
