St. Bonaventure University junior Andrew Bevevino has been awarded one of the American Advertising Federation’s coveted Stickell internships for 2015. This is the second consecutive year that an internship through the Vance and Betty Lee Stickell Student Internship Program has been granted to an SBU student.
Roughly 70 students from chapters all over the United States are nominated for the internship program each year. Fifteen of those outstanding students are selected for a 10-week internship at U.S. media organizations, advertising agencies and client and supplier companies.
Bevevino will be taking his talents to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., to work as a digital strategy intern this summer.
“As far as my future career goes,” said Bevevino, “I don’t know where I’ll land. I’m just going to see where my skills and experiences take me and go from there.”
Bevevino, a strategic communications and digital media major from Warren, Pa., brought new ideas to St. Bonaventure’s AAF chapter for this year’s client, Pizza Hut. The major challenge was to increase online orders.
Each year, a sponsor provides a case study and presents its current advertising situation. Members of AAF chapters then research and identify potential issue areas.
Bevevino took charge and started from scratch with a social media department for SBU’s Pizza Hut campaign. The group found it necessary to have a stronger online presence to create and increase more online orders. Several social media platforms were utilized to strengthen the campaign.
“Not only did I have to dig deep into my creative repertoire to generate unique and engaging concepts,” said Bevevino. “I also had to facilitate the creation of ideas among my team. As a whole, our department worked incredibly well together, and we made some great contributions to our campaign.”
