Make a difference, Walsh tells SBU graduates

Former Syracuse congressman James Walsh told those who sat where he did 41 years ago at St. Bonaventure University to not look back on their lives with regret. Walsh was one of three to receive honorary degrees at Commencement in the Reilly Center Arena.

Markert and Waters are named Ideal St. Bonaventure Students

St. Bonaventure University seniors Nicole Markert and Thomas Waters Jr. were recognized as Ideal Bonaventure Students on Saturday, May 14, at the university’s Honors Ceremony and again Sunday during St. Bonaventure’s 151st Commencement Exercises.

English lecturer Sandra J. Mulryan earns Excellence in Teaching award

Sandra J. Mulryan, a lecturer in the Department of English at St. Bonaventure University, was recognized as the recipient of this year’s Professional Excellence in Teaching award. Mulryan is a knowledgeable and versatile teacher who connects with her students.

Two students recognized for their post-Commencement service plans

Kevin Cilano of Greece, N.Y., and Sheree Ortiz from Queens were recognized for their post-Commencement volunteer service plans. Cilano was selected for the Franciscan Volunteer Ministry; Ortiz will serve for a year with Chicago-based Mercy Home, a home for at-risk children.

ROTC program commissions five cadets as second lieutenants

Five graduating seniors who were part of the Army ROTC program while attending St. Bonaventure University were commissioned as second lieutenants in a ceremony on campus Saturday.
