Warming House meals will be served at a temporary location in Olean as work continues by Park Centre Development at the new site. The final meal at the Warming House’s West State Street location was served Friday, Feb. 5.

A number of students, including those from ROTC, the rugby team, BonaResponds and the First-Year Service Program in the Center for Community Engagement, have agreed to assist with the move. Volunteers began last weekend by sorting and packing items at the West State Street site, as others worked at the new location unpacking the annual donation of food from St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute that arrived in December.

As the University prepares to move the Warming House into its new home at 164 N. Union St., it has made the following transitional arrangements for daily meal service as well as preparations for the opening of the new location:

  • Warming House daily meals will be served at the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church (133 S. Union St., Olean) Monday, February 7, to Friday, March 4. The Fellowship Hall will open at 3 p.m. and the meal will be served at 4:30 p.m.
  • There will be no Sunday afternoon meal during this time of transition — that includes Sundays Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27.
  • The first meal in the new Warming House location on North Union Street will be served on Tuesday, March 8, 2011. Training sessions for students and volunteers will be organized the week of February 14.
  • Guests of the Warming House received information about these transition plans.
