Former Department of Defense official to discuss ‘Unpredictable Consequences of Violence’ in Afghanistan in Sept. 22 Zoom talk
The Center for Arab & Islamic Studies at St. Bonaventure University will host author, commentator and activist Matthew Hoh for a virtual lecture on Afghanistan.
Hoh, a Senior Fellow at the Center for International Policy and a former Defense and State Department official in Afghanistan, will present “Afghanistan: The Inevitable Failure & Unpredictable Consequences of Violence” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22,on Zoom. (Originally the talked was slated to be in person, but has been moved to the Zoom platform because of unforseen circumstances.) Login details are below.
Hoh had nearly 12 years’ experience overseas with the United States Marine Corps, Department of Defense and State Department. In 2009, he resigned from his post in Afghanistan with the State Department over the American escalation of the war.
His writings have appeared in online and print periodicals such as the Atlanta Journal Constitution, CounterPunch, CNN, Defense News, the Guardian, the Huffington Post, Mother Jones, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post. He has been a guest on hundreds of news programs on radio and television networks, including the BBC, CBS, CNN, CSPAN, Fox, NBC, MSNBC, & NPR.
