Franciscan Presence and Dialogue: Peace-Making and Inculturation in a Culture of Violence

St. Francis went to meet the Sultan during the Crusades. St. Clare had an encounter with Saracens who threatened to attack the church where she was living with her sisters. In both instances, the man and woman who inspired the Franciscan movement sought peace and reconciliation, an alternative way of being with those who were “other,” different in beliefs and culture.

This event will provide a closer look at their stories and its implications for life in the 21st century.

Part of the Franciscan Institute Build With Living Stones Franciscan Heritage Series.

Presenter: Dr. Paula Scraba, National Build With Living Stones Facilitator

Pizza and refreshments will be provided.
