ANGEL TREE GIFT DRIVE

The Student Government Association is once again coordinating the Angel Tree Gift Drive this year. This year SGA has decided the "angels" will benefit the Olean Day Care Center for children in need.

If you would like to sponsor an angel, you can pick up a tag from the Angel Tree Gift Drive from 11:30 and 3:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the lobby of the Reilly Center.

The gifts along with the angel you pick from the tree will be returned after the Thanksgiving Break.

MAJORITY OF E2CAMPUS USERS TO EXPIRE SOON

On Nov. 30, 2012, the accounts of more than 1,700 of the current 2,900 users on SBU's e2campus emergency text alert system will expire. You should receive a text alert from e2campus over the course of this month telling you the same thing. But in case you do not, or you happen to ignore the text thinking that it's just spam, don't worry. Updating your expiration date is easy.

1. EVERYONE with an e2campus account should go to https://www.e2campus.net/my/stbu/. This link can also be found on the my.sbu.edu page under the "Health & Safety" header.

2. Log in with your username and password.

3. If your expiration date is Nov. 30, there will be a yellow window that appears that says "Your service is active, but will expire on Nov. 30, 2012." Next to that, there's a button that says extend service period.

4. Clicking that button will automatically extend your expiration date by 2 years, to Nov. 30, 2014. (Unfortunately, the only time you can pick the specific end date of your service is when you first sign up for e2campus. If you prefer to delete your account and create a new one so you can pick a more specific opt-out date — e.g., you graduate in May — you can do that.)

5. EVERYONE with e2campus should log in to see if their expiration date is approaching at the end of this month. If you DO NOT see an "extend service period" button, then you are not about to expire. (NOTE: e2campus only allows you to extend your expiration date WITHIN 30 days of the expiration date.)

6. If you believe you have signed up for e2campus — and more than 300 people did early this week in advance of the storm — but DID NOT receive the text messages concerning campus preparations for the storm, then it's possible your account did not get properly validated when you signed up. There are almost 300 unvalidated users in SBU's e2campus system. The likely reason is that when you signed up, you should have received a validation.

7. To check the validation status of your account, log in as in steps 1 and 2 above.

8. If you ARE UNVALIDATED, you should see a bold-face red message telling you to go to the Services page. Click on the Services tab above in the orange menu bar.

9. If you have the original text from e2campus from the day you signed up, find it and enter the code. If you need the code again, click the Resend Validation Code link.

If people are still having difficulties, please email Tom Missel, director of marketing and media relations, at tmissel@sbu.edu.

SPRING 2013 LENNA VISITING PROFESSORSHIP

The Lenna Visiting Professorship Committee is pleased to once again invite proposals for the Spring 2013 semester. The purpose of the professorship is to bring individuals of national and international stature to St. Bonaventure to enrich the learning environment and to enhance the university's reputation. The appointment will enable a school or program to bring in someone whom it might otherwise not have been able to consider (in terms of cost, etc). To that end, the minimum tenure for the Lenna Visiting Professor is two weeks. A nominator can hold any position within the university.

The formal nomination should include:

• rationale for the nomination of candidate, e.g., connections to the core curriculum; disciplines to be covered; schools/departments that will benefit
• candidate’s curriculum vitae
• tentative schedule
• suggested timetable
• estimated budget (including travel, meals, lodging, an honorarium of up to $6,000)
• anything else that would be useful to the committee in making its determination

Proposals will be accepted until Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.

A complete list of nomination guidelines is available by request.

SWAN BUSINESS CENTER CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

During the week ending Nov. 16, the steel structure for the peaked roof over the main atrium assumed its final shape. Workers are enclosing the building for the winter, and the framing of interior walls has begun on the second floor. Electricians and plumbers are at work in the interior as well. The project remains comfortably on schedule.

Over the next two weeks, the enclosure will be completed and temporary heaters will be placed in service. Sprayed foam insulation will cover the green fiberglass board we see now, and the bricks will start to go on during the week of Nov. 26.
