SPRING INTO BONA'S CLUB SIGN UPS Attention campus clubs and organizations! Spring into Bona’s is approaching fast, and that means so is the Community and Academic Fair. Over 200 incoming freshmen will be on campus for Spring into Bona’s, so show them why your club or organization is great by signing up for a table during the Community and Academic Fair on March 30! Each club or organization will be given at least four feet of table space and will be responsible for bringing their own signage. Please indicate if you will need an outlet and we will try to accommodate your request. The deadline to sign up is Friday, March 23. HONOR AN EXCEPTIONAL MEMBER OF THE SBU COMMUNITY Do you feel that someone’s Franciscan spirit goes unrecognized? You can change that. The Annual Fr. Joe Doino, O.F.M., Honors and Awards Committee and the Student Government Association are seeking nominations of individuals and groups at St. Bonaventure who have made significant contributions to the University community during the past year. Nominations are sought for 10 awards that will be presented at the Spring Honors and Awards Ceremony (4 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in the Quick Center). The ceremony will also celebrate SBU personnel marking employment anniversaries and 2012 Faculty Award recipients. SGA is looking for T-shirt designs for this year's spring weekend! Any student can submit a design. It can be four color, front and back design. All designs will be on white shirts. Emily Deragon ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY Applications are now being accepted for membership in the Xi Delta chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the national Spanish Honor Society founded in 1919. Petitions may be filed online at the Modern Language Department web site Sigma Delta Pi page or by contacting Dr. Leigh Simone in the Dept of Modern Languages, Plassmann 207 B. A minimum of 18 hours in Spanish or the equivalent thereof is required. Three of those credit hours should be in an upper level literature or culture and civilization course. Dr. Scott Craver (Art History) and Dr. Chris Stanley (Theology) will be leading a study trip to Italy, Greece, and Turkey this coming summer that can be used to earn credit for CLAR 103 (Foundations of the Western World) and/or a theology elective on "The Social World of Paul." The trip is open to anyone, including students and others who want to learn without doing academic work. The final information session about the trip will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in Plassmann 202A. ACADEMIC POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: WHAT FACULTY AND STAFF NEED TO KNOW Breakfast Conversation sponsored by the Student Success and Retention Committee The next Breakfast Conversation, on Friday, March 16, will address academic policies and procedures. Topics to be discussed include advising special populations (including athletes and international students), policies for academic review of students whose GPA falls below "good standing," "satisfactory academic progress" financial aid policies, and the information available to advisors. This conversation is especially pertinent for advisors as they prepare to meet with students during the upcoming registration period, but should be of interest to all who interact with students. This breakfast conversation is scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday, March 16, in the Doyle Dining Room. Breakfast will be ready by 7:45 a.m. and the session will end in time for faculty to meet 9:30 a.m. classes. Even if you can only come for part of the conversation, you are invited. TICKET INFORMATION FOR POSSIBLE POST-SEASON MEN'S GAME Greetings from the St. Bonaventure Ticket Office. Although the men's basketball team secured a pass straight to Atlantic City with their incredible victory over St. Joseph’s on Wednesday night, it is still possible that Bonaventure will host a post-season NIT or CBI game. The game would be played either March 13, 14, or 15. The selection process will take place late night on Sunday, March 11. If you would like to purchase your season ticket seats for a post-season game at $15 each, you must contact the ticket office by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 12. If you have already turned in your form and payment to purchase A-10 post-season tickets and would like to transfer that payment to this ticket offer you must also contact the ticket office by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 12. If we do not host a game, payments will not be processed. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday, March 12. Student tickets will be available at $5 each. Today Friday, March 9 Dance Party Saturday, March 10 Stephen Kuchera SGA ELECTIONS PETITIONS AVAILABLE The St. Bonaventure Student Government Association is now accepting petition forms for SGA Class Officer and Senator positions for the 2012-2013 school year. If you are interested in running for a position, you must collect signatures for a petition form for your particular position. Petition forms can be found on my.sbu.edu. Log in and click "Student," then under general links click the option "SGA information" to find the forms. Each "class" has four class officers (a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer) as well as several senator at large positions. The president/vice president run on the same ticket, and all other positions run on their own individual ticket. There are also executive board positions available, but in order to run for an executive board position you must have sat on SGA for at least 3 semesters. All other positions (class officers and senators) require no prior SGA commitment. All forms must be received by 5 p.m. Monday, March 19. Completed forms can be turned into The Campus Activities Office in RC 206. Elections are tentatively scheduled for Monday, March 26 to Friday, March 30, 2012.
