St. Bonaventure University will host a College Financial Aid Workshop at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, in the Doyle Hall Dining Room.
The annual workshop is co-sponsored by St. Bonaventure and the Cattaraugus County Campus of Jamestown Community College; each school hosts the event every other year.
The free workshop is open to the public and is a valuable tool for students and their families, said Troy Martin, financial aid director at St. Bonaventure.
Martin will discuss the financial aid process and eligibility as well as provide information on the types and amounts of aid available.
Sharon Hodgdon, senior financial aid assistant at JCC, will then talk about completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and how to avoid errors.
“We know that this is the time of year when high school seniors and their parents start to get nervous about paying for college and completing the FAFSA,” Martin said. “The session will provide helpful information about the financial aid process, describe the various types of aid available, and give instructions on completing the FAFSA.”
The workshop is geared to any family who will have a student in college next year, not just those attending SBU or JCC, Martin said.
“We are glad that the two local colleges can partner to offer this workshop to the community,” Martin said.
Beverages and cookies will be served.
