St. Bonaventure University is ranked No. 5 on U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 list of best values in the North — the second-highest ranking for any regional university in New York.
The U.S. News’ “Great Schools, Great Prices” list of Best Regional Universities in the North includes colleges that offer a full range of master’s degree programs.
St. Bonaventure also ranked No. 24 out of 183 institutions on the magazine’s all-criteria ranking of Best Regional Universities in the North, the same ranking as in 2015.
“We celebrate this ‘Best College Value’ ranking because it speaks to what happens to students after they enroll at SBU, instead of just ranking the university based on the academic characteristics of the students we admit,” said Sr. Margaret Carney, O.S.F., university president.
“This ranking says that students here outperform their predicted success, that the St. Bonaventure experience adds value, and that it does so at a cost that is affordable.”
The magazine determined the value ranking using three figures from 2014-15: ratio of academic quality to price, need-based aid and average discount.
Prospective students can calculate their scholarship eligibility at www.sbu.edu/calculator.
“We’re able to offer this experience because of our dedicated faculty and staff who are deeply committed to providing a challenging and supportive academic community, and our alumni and friends whose contributions make our generous financial aid programs possible,” Sr. Margaret said.
For the first time, St. Bonaventure was ranked on the Best Colleges for Veterans list (regional universities in the North), coming in at No. 18.
“This accomplishment validates our ongoing commitment to providing the best student experience possible to the young men and women who have served our nation so honorably as members of the armed services,” said Rick Trietley, vice president for student affairs and a 22-year member of the Army.
“We feel strongly that St. Bonaventure provides a supportive and safe environment for transitioning veterans to pursue their educational, co-curricular and career goals.”
The magazine’s annual rankings of “America’s Best Colleges” were released this morning. Complete rankings of nearly 1,600 schools nationwide are available at www.usnews.com/colleges. They will also be published in this month’s issue of U.S. News & World Report, on newsstands starting today.
